ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

This is a 1957 280SL Mecerdes Benz That we recently finished. The owner wanted a high reving engine
that he could depend on so we put together a 1988 Mecerdes Benz 2.3 Liter, 16 Valve High
Performance Power House. It has a pair of 44 IDE Weber Carbs, Pertronix Electronic Ignition and Cosworth
16 Valve performance cylinder head. To get the exhaust to work for the mill, we crafted a custom
header that's been cermaic coated inside and out. The modifications don't stop there either. To get
this SILVER BULLET to stop, a complete set of Willwood, 4 piston calipers were installed front and
rear. The Automatic transmission has been modified with a performance valve body, Mecerdes Racing clutches and
discs and a secretly built torque converter. The rear axle was modified to accept a 1988 280 SL's Carrier
section with it's lower gear ratio ring and pinion. All this and we still managed to fit the car with Air
Conditioning.
